How to Configure External Connections?
NOTE: This applies only for legacy applications and clients that are connecting with Windows Client or GAPI connections. However, this does not apply to DocuWare Web Client connections. DocuWare web client connections are connected through IIS, therefore, these steps do not apply.
Answer:
Access from an external connection passes first through a firewall and is then forwarded to the DocuWare server. Here you define how the external connection is routed. All external connections available in the system, defined under the DocuWare System/General node, and assigned to the DocuWare server, are listed here. Click the plus button to add a new connection setting. Then enter the server name of the firewall and the port via which the DocuWare server can be reached externally. Please note the syntax: Name and port are separated by a colon but no spaces, e.g. '<Servername:9001>'. The default ports for DocuWare Servers are 9000 for Authentication Server, 9001 for Content Server, 9002 for Workflow Server, 9004 for SAP HTTP Server, 9005 for Notification Server, 9006 for Thumbnail Server and 9009 for Imaging Server. The port must also be open on the firewall.
Steps
- Create an external connection name under system level.
Here you just need to specify the name, which you will reference later in your server configuration.
- Next, we need to go under "each" server and configure with actual external address. You will do this for Authentication Server, Content Server, and other that you may need to access.
NOTE: You can also used a full qualify public domain, if you already have a domain that is redirected to your company router. Sometimes you can also use a different port, you just need to make sure that your router is configured to route traffic to DocuWare server.
