Behavior:
If you try to login on Connect to Oulook using the server name you get the following message:
"Cannot find active authentication server. All servers are either stopped or the communication channel settings don't allow a connection."
The access via the Web Client works fine.

Solution:
Check if a connection can be established via the server name with Ping  or Telnet. Sometimes it happens that the DNS cache was not flushed correctly and still no new values are available.
You can force the DNS cache to go ahead in which you can enter the following commands at the command prompt:

  • ipconfig /flushdns
  • ipconfig /renew
  • restart Outlook.
