Question:
How can you set a logging agent for file cabinets up?

Answer:
DocuWare provides different logging functions. The functions are used to find errors in the DocuWare installation, or to track the behavior of the program. A log can refer to the entire system, only to one entity, or a single file cabinet. The specific settings for the logging are done in DocuWare Administration. The definition of the protocol functions are performed separately, depending on the node. On file cabinet level, the file cabinet owner and the file cabinet administrator will be able to make settings for the logging. Logging definitions are summarized in a logging agent, the results are recorded in a logging target.

In DocuWare Administration activate the logging on file cabinet level. First, you need a special logging destination (file or database, whichever is easier for you), for example:

This new logging target can now be used for a new logging agent:

In the first subsequent dialog you can define whether administrative changes should be logged (e.g., new fields added or existing deleted), but this is not necessary for most cases, therefore all items can be checked here. When you click continue, the following dialog is empty.

In the third dialog you can define which file cabinet operations (access, storage, index changes) should be written to the log. If we only need the index changes, the settings should look like this:

In the fourth dialog, we will set up what information we want to log, which user it did and the DocId of the document etc.:

Last dialog: A log is created for each user, both when all users enabled (all boxes checked) and if all users are disabled (no boxes checked). If you enable individual users, only these will be logged, users not selected are excluded from the logging.

Now, when a user changes index values via a stamp or the infobox (for example, an entry in the "Contact" is changed), it is shown in the log as follows:

In the overview on the right you will see only a part, but you will find information about the user and the time of the change.
For many users and many changes in one day it is helpful to know, what you are looking for, because you can look for a specific modification:
