Quick Configuration Guide
- Enable the option “Windows Explorer User allowed” in the file cabinet.
- Assign a field in your file cabinet to de used as “Document Name”. Your file cabinet has to have at least two fields.
- Create a tree view type dialog.
Name the dialog and then arrange the fields in a format (Set field order) so that you have the “document name” as the last field in the tree view. Try staying away from number fields and date field because they tend to have special characters which sometimes Windows Explorer does not like those characters.
- Give rights to the dialog under the file cabinet profile so that the users can have access to the dialog.
- Explorer Client has to be installed from your web instance address
- (optional) Just to be safe and so that there is no issues with your Windows Explorer after an install you may want to close (complete close) or unlike in Windows 8.x you can restart the process. In older version of Windows you may have to restart the computer. In most cases you just need to reopen the Windows Explorer.
- Now, you need to connect or configure with a user name and password so that it can connect to DocuWare server. Right click in the icon and select properties.
- Now, you can assign a dedicated user of DocuWare or set to Windows authentication. If you set to Windows authentication you have to make sure that “the user” is configured for Windows authentication.
- You can also set few option to be able to work with documents that have special characters or has no data on it.
- “Right click” in the icon and refresh the settings. Every time you make some changes in the administration tool make sure that you refresh the settings.
NOTE:Now, you should be able to drag-n-drop into this folder or “Save as” from any Windows application. Please look at the documentation that came with your software package to see what features are available.You can treat this folder as if it was a additional virtual drive in your machine.
