Behavior:
After the update to the DocuWare version 6.9 the fixed select list cannot be assigned to a numerical field (integer field) any more.

Because of new implementations in DocuWare version 6.9 it should be avoided that values can be assigned to a field with different datatype.
This assignment led to various negative effects in former DocuWare versions (for instance problems with the autoindex workflow).
Therefore the product design decided that the fixed select list in now interpreted as text only and therefore cannot be assigned to a numerical (integer) field any more.

Solution:
If you need to assign a select list to a numerical field, please use/create an external select list instead:
You can either configure an external database connection and define the used database field as an integer field.
Or you can create an external file connection and define the needed field to be interpreted as an integer field in the DocuWare Administration.

  • Where can I find instructions for creating a select list in DocuWare 7.2? There needs to be a way to filter Knowledge Base articles by version number.
  • Dear Tara,

For general configuration questions please check our official product documentation at help.docuware.com. You will find detailed information on how to create select lists under following link:

Our Knowledge Base articles are rather answering very specific scenarios, or support with troubleshooting in general. However, thank you for your feedback. I will forward the suggestion to implement filter options for Knowledge Base articles.
