How to create a screenshot on Windows and Mac?

A screenshot is a useful way to create a screen shot that reflects the current screen content. This can be useful for documenting error messages or sharing other important information. In this article, we explain how to take a screenshot on Windows and Mac.
 
Create screenshot on Windows

There are several ways to create a screenshot on a Windows PC. We will introduce you to two methods here.

1.  With the push button (PrtScn).

Simply press the "Print" key on your keyboard to take a screenshot of the entire screen. Then you can paste the image into any image editing program and edit it.

2.  Using the Windows "Cut and Sketch" tool

The Windows "Cut and Sketch" tool is a useful tool to create and edit screenshots. It can be launched from the Windows Start menu or by pressing the key combination "Windows key + Shift + S". You can then select which area of the screen you want to capture and edit the image in the application.

Create screenshot on Mac

Even on a Mac, there are several ways to take a screenshot. Here are two methods that are described:

1.  With the key combination "Command + Shift + 3".
Press the "Command + Shift + 3" keys simultaneously to take a screenshot of the entire screen. The image will be automatically saved on your desktop.

2.  With the key combination "Command + Shift + 4".
Press the "Command + Shift + 4" keys to take a screenshot of a selected area. The mouse will turn into a crosshair that you can use to select the area you want to capture. Once you have selected the area, the image will be saved to your desktop.
