Question:
How do I Change the DocuWare temporary directory locations?

Answer:
It is important to note the following when changing the temp directory for the DocuWare Services.

  • The temporary folder must always reside on a disk that is local to the server where the specific service(s) resides.
  • You must change this individually for all services. (That require a temporary file path.)
  • Create a folder in Windows and give the user running the DocuWare Services full control access to that folder.
  •  Login to the DocuWare Administration Tool as a DocuWare System Administrator.
  •  Expand the Server section in the left panel under “DocuWare System.” Next expand the server to which you need to change the temporary path. (As of DocuWare version 6.1 the only services with a path here are: Content, Workflow, Thumbnail, and Connect to Mail.)
  • Change the temporary directory to point to the new location by clicking the button. (See screen shot.) And then repeat this for the remaining services.

  • Next we need to change the location of the temporary folder for Imaging Service. (This happens to be shared with the setting for the web instance. To change this simply expand “General” under your DocuWare Organization and expand “Web Instances” and highlight your instance(s).
  • Change this temporary folder in a similar fashion as before.
    Change Temp Path
  • Restart the DocuWare Services and reset IIS.

Since version 6.11 the temporary path is not defined in DocuWare administration anymore. See following FAQ for further details: KBA-35941
