DW7 installation gives a pre-instgallation check warning that it's being installed on a Domain Controller, but installs just fine and so far I could not see any issues.

Neither I could find any references to why such a warning being issued.

Does anyone know?

There is a very good reason for the warning. Basically it is a very poor practise to run a software application on the infrastructure server(s). The DC is there to provide infrastructure and security. If the software application brings down the infrastructure server, or compromises security then the company could well be dead in the water. Basically, DocuWare is saying you have been warned. Caveat Emptor.

In addition to Phil's response, on heavily used networks there can be the issue of port exhaustion: since most people also run DNS services on the domain controller, busy systems can actually use up all 65,535 ports. I've seen this several times, and unfortunately nothing can be done except for offloading the DNS traffic.

EDIT: Or, of course, give DocuWare its own server as suggested!
