Upgrading from 6.12 to 7-1538676391

I am planning on upgrading a current customer from 6.12 to 7, what documentation exists that will ensure that the upgrade is successful?  Are there any known issues with doing this upgrade that I need to be aware of?

I have a customer with a basic storage setup. No modules. Will the upgrade wizard handle the upgrade to 7 from 6.12 without having to modify any fields or data types?
