An upgrade to DocuWare 7.4 is possible from DocuWare 7.1 or higher.

Hardware

Services

  • CPU 2 * 2,0 GHz minimum, 4 * 3,2 GHz recommended
  • RAM 4 GB minimum, 8 GB – recommended
  • Hard disk:
    • minimum 5 GB free space
    • SSD recommended
    • Documents should be stored on a separate internal hard drive or external storage System

Database
DocuWare Internal Database:

  • CPU Cores: minimum 2 x 1,4 GHz, recommended 2 x 3,2 GHz
  • RAM: minimum 1 GB
  • DocuWare recommends the use of Microsoft SQL-Server as Database system for Systems with more than 1 Million documents without Fulltext, or with more the 200.000 document pages with Fulltext.
  • When using Workflow Manager, Microsoft SQL-Server or MySQL 32-Bit as Database is NOT reccomended.
  • In larger installations we recommend to use a dedicated machine for the database
  • MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle:
    System Requirements of database vendor must be followed

Fulltext

  • DocuWare Fulltext Service (required for searching in the full text of the documents):
  • CPU Cores: minimum 1 x 1,4 GHz, recommended 2 x 3,2 GHz
  • RAM: minimum 1 GB, recommended 2 GB
  • In larger installations, we recommend using a dedicated machine for Fulltext.

Special requirements for Intelligent Indexing as local Installation:

  • Windows Server 2019 (Standard or Datacenter Edition, not within VMWare)
  • 4 Processor cores
  • 8 GB RAM
  • Optional: Installed SQL Server 2019 or 2022

Intelligent Indexing can be installed on Windows Server (not within VMWare), Ubuntu and Debian. More detailed system requirements can be found at  https://github.com/docuware/intellix

Minimal Requirement Examples:

  • DocuWare, all Server and Web Components, including the Internal Database on one machine (Windows Server 2012 Standard), without Fulltext
    • Minimal Requirements:
      CPU: 2 x 2,0 GHz (DocuWare Services) + 2 x 1,4 GHz (Internal Database) = 4 x 2,0 GHz
      RAM: 4 GB (DocuWare) + 1 GB (Internal Database) = 5 GB
    • Recommended Resources
      CPU: 4 x 3,2 GHz (DocuWare Services) + 2 x 3,2 GHz (Internal Database) = 6 x 3,2 GHz
      RAM: 8 GB (DocuWare Services + 1 GB (Internal Database) = 9 GB
  • DocuWare, all Server- Web Components including Microsoft SQL 2014 Standard Version on one machine (Windows Server 2012 Standard), with Fulltext

* NOT recommended because of strong IIS request limits (10 concurrent requests maximum). User experience might be severely degraded for more than three users. In addition, the corresponding "Home" editions are not supported as operating systems for server machines.

Further restrictions:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) are not supported for running DocuWare, neither for servers nor for clients.
  • Terminal servers and domain controllers are not supported for DocuWare Server installations.

  • The current user must have local administrator rights on the computer
  • Windows Installer 4.5
  • .NET 4.8

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016 , 2017, 2019, and 2022 [Collation Latin1_General_CI_AS]
  • Oracle 12c, 18c and 19c (except for Multitenant Architecture) [Collation Binary_CS_AS]
    • Must be installed on a separate machine
  • MySQL 5.0 - 5.7 [Collation utf8_general_ci]

Please install role Webserver (IIS) before installing DocuWare

Installing role Webserver (IIS) will install the following Role Services by Default

  • Basic Authentication (Security)
  • Default document
  • Static Content

DocuWare Server Setup installs the following Role Services automatically

  • ASP.NET (4.5)
  • HTTP Redirect
  • Windows Authentication

Install the following Role to obtain better performance

  • WebSocket Protocol (available with IIS 8)

DocuWare Server Setup installs the following components automatically

Special Requirements for DocuWare Request

  • .NET 4.5 or higher is required to start a DocuWare Request created with DocuWare Version 7.
Special requirements for electronic signatures
  • For the integration of electronic signatures of the type 'biometric' the signature service provider ValidatedID supports these devices.
