Question:
What is the lifetime of a Power Automate API key?
Answer:
The Power Automate API key uses a mix of an Access Token and a Refresh Token. The Access Token expires every 10 minutes, but Power Automate automatically refreshes it.
-
The Refresh Token is valid for 30 days.
-
The Expiry Trigger: If your Power Automate flow does not run at least once every 30 days, the Refresh Token expires. This is the most common reason a "key" suddenly stops working.
-
While DocuWare doesn't show a "days remaining" countdown, the client can see the real-time health of the key which are:
-
Valid: The key is active and ready.
-
Pending: The key has technically "expired" but is in a grace period—it will automatically wake up the next time the flow runs.
-
Expired: The key has been inactive for more than 30 days. It must be manually refreshed by clicking the Refresh button in that row.
