How can the operator AND be combined with the operator OR in the trigger conditions of a workflow?

Answer:
In the Workflow Designer it is possible to define per drop-down list whether "all" (AND conjunction) or "any" (OR conjunction) of the trigger conditions must be fulfilled.
To combine those two conjunctions the operator "OR" must be used. This will be explained in the following example.

The trigger conditions include all new documents that are either of the type "Credit Note" OR "Invoice" AND have a status of "New".
