Question:
Are there any limitations when using file connections to CSV files for external select lists?

Answer:
By product design, if an external select list is using a file connection to a CSV file as its source, the CSV file must not exceed 10,000 rows. Exceeding 10,000 rows will result in a decline in performance when searching, storing, and editing dialogs for any index field connected to that external select list. Values failing to load, timeout errors within the Web Client, and long loading times can occur if the limit within the CSV file is exceeded.

If your CSV file has exceeded the limit, import all the rows in the CSV file into a file cabinet and create an external select list using that file cabinet as the source. Please see KBA-36560 on how this process would be implemented.

KBA is applicable for Cloud Organizations ONLY.
