Question:
You import a PDF document of 80 KB into a DocuWare file cabinet, and now it is 200 KB in size. What is the reason for that?

Answer:
This due to the file being written in to DocuWare as PDF/A format. PDF/A means PDF archive. This format is intended for long-term preservation and is an ISO standard.
The intent is to ensure that the content is reproducable at any time in the future across any type of system capable of displaying the PDF format. PDF/A stores only certain image formats and the fonts used are embedded in to the PDF for portability.
