Some support cases used to involve the problem, that it was not possible to save configuration changes in Administration. A very general error message would pop up, stating "The changes could not be saved. Please refer to the log for details." A debug log from DocuWare Administration contained the more precise message "Changes to an LOB require a connection transaction."
Up to now this occurred in connection with Oracle databases, where the entry in the advanced administration log stated that a "Large Object Binary" could not be saved by Oracle. This data type is typically used in the DocuWare environment for saving DocuWare system settings in the "settings" column of the "dwsystem" database.
The situation described can occur through a range of different .NET Framework versions, that are installed in parallel on the DocuWare server system. So far, this has happened in environments, that contained a parallel installation of .NET Framework 3.0 and 3.5. It was triggered when the old .NET Framework 3.0 was uninstalled and the .NET Framework 3.5 was then installed including service pack 1 and the latest fixes.
