• Technical documentation for DocuWare 7

While planning to upgrade a DocuWare system to DocuWare version 7, you need to be aware of the system requirements and also the technical changes that have taken place.
You will need to consider all aspects of the changes and how they relate to the system that is planned to be upgraded.

  • Document processing.

    Jovan,
Your screen captures are not visible. Perhaps you could re-upload them. Please also describe what DocuWare technologies you are using to process these documents. For example, Workflow Manager? Task lists and stamps?

  • Questions on DocuWare 7

    Joe,
DocuWare 7 now contains a full System Audit function. This should be mentioned somewhere in the document. Basically, full auditing is on by default for the System, Organization, and File Cabinets.

On MacOS you can use the web client, but nothing that invokes or uses a desktop app. So Edit & Send is out.
As far as configurations from a Mac I've not tried it, so if it blocked I guess there is a good reason for it. I would have to ask, as I do not use a Mac given it's limited functionality with DocuWare.

  • Performance.

    Steve,
Has anyone ever adjusted the size of the MySQL transaction files, or the memory allocation for MySQL? I'll bet not. What you have is fulltext text shots being written to MySQL, which is likely seriously undersized at this stage.

Please open a Support Request for furthwer investigation and correction.

  • Upgrade paths to DocuWare 7.

I expect the documentation to be available shortly. However, do not rush to upgrade on-premise customers until you are fully aware of the breaking changes that DocuWare 7 brings. we presented all details and the upgrade paths at DocuWare in the Advanced DSC classes.
The minimum version to upgrade to DocuWare 7 is DocuWare 6.7.
Also, you do not have to uninstall anything. The upgrader performs all neccessary actions and for all intents and purposes is the same as any previous upgrade as far as execution is concerned.

Here is the document you should read:

Let's start with what version of DocuWare you are using and what update was applied?

To everyone reading this thread. Please understand that this is a forum and there can be many different opinions offered. When it comes to DocuWare and its engine, I ask that the DocuWare support departments opinion be carefully weighed against any other. In this post, a DocuWare DSC who I consider to be quite expert with Docuware has offered an opinion. However, he has no mandate to support you. I do. Therefore if you do not follow my advice as the Senior Director of Support for the Americas, and follow the advice of an ADP's Tech, and it goes awry I will have no option but to send you to Professional Services as I will not support Josef's method.

  • Tread warily. Just because

Tread warily. Just because Josef says he has done it his way, does not mean that you can do it and be successful. We will not support such actions if they fail. Caveat Emptor.

  • Session Timeout

    Bruce,
This is indeed a subject of some interest. DocuWare as an application  requires that the users workstation is locked after a period of time to conform to the NIST standards. Now within its own mechanisms it will not log a user out automatically. Since the tracking mechanism in the licensing table does not keep the original log in time I suggest you make an request in the User Voice site so that the Product Owners can assess the requirement.

  • Drive Space.

    Steve,
Those are IIS log files. Have you checked best practises with Microsoft? I would delete them if it was my system. And I probably would not run every application on my boot drive, running the risk of my whole system grinding to a halt. But that's me.
