• Text field length.

    Joe,
I did not check the versions specifically. I thought the 2000 legnth started with 6.12. So it must have been 6.11. Anyhoo, it was a very recent release. Oh, and I thought that the default was 255, but again could not check it when I replied.

    Carry on! :)

I think 255 is nice figure. Takes no space if not used.

  • Text Field length

    Joe,
You cannot change the length of a text field in the database. DocuWare records the field length in the System settings for the cabinet and in the documents header file. Changing just the database will cause problems.

To avoid having this type of problem DocuWare support a text field length of 2000 characters for 6.12 and up to 255 characters for 6.7 to 6.11.
I would use the max when creating the fields even if today you only want to hold a few characters.

  • Drive encryption.

    Seth,
Wer have no information what-so-ever on this product. I suggest that BeachHead are the ones to indicate how well their software runs with a server based operating system. What type of encryption are they planning to use? Disk? File? Any layer placed between DocuWare and the file system could introduce performance issues. Anyway as I said, we know nothing of it so I suggest you talk to the vendor of the product.
If they wish to supply us with a working copy of the software we can certainly look to test it.

  • Editing Excel file.

    Seth,
That behavior does seem right. I just tested on DocuWare 7. I opened and Excel file on my desktop and then select edit on an Excel file in my web tray. The web tray file opened in another instance of Excel which is what I epected.
Check if there is any setting in Excel that prevents it from spawning multiple instances of itself. I guess a quick check it to open 2 Excel file on the desktop and see that there is 2 instances. If so, then let me know the DocuWare version and we'll see if we can replicate the behavior.

  • Required field warning.

    Scott,
That is a software fault in 6.12. It has been fixed for DocuWare 7.0.

  • Merge Form error.

    Viviana,
Unless someone else chimes in who has seen this error before, I think you should open a Support Request so the team can investigate and assist you. The error may be mis-leading and the problem could be something unexpected.

  • DocuWare Workflow.

When a workflow instance is created (by triggering with a document) all of the rights existing at the time of the instance being created are gathered and recorded. So any changes made to the underlying roles will not be recognized until a new workflow instance is created.
These types of changes cannot be retrospective.

  • User Account creation in the cloud

DocuWare 7 provides a new desktop app specifically for synchronizing Active Directory with both an On-Premise system and the DocuWare Cloud.
