Our agency is developing a system where DocuWare files are downloaded to an iPad application for reference when performing offsite property reviews. The issue is when older properties are reviewed their files are either Tiff or DWTiff format which are not readable on the iPad application.

We are currently running DocuWare 6.8. What options are there to convert files to PDF format?

Thank you

DocuWare does not contain an in-built file format conversion utility. The only option that I can think of off-hand is to print the document to a PDF printer, such as DocuWare printer and re-store the document. This however is a manual task. Another option (more expensive) is to engage Professional Services to perform an "in-place" conversion of the documents to PDF. This would entail a custom program that basically went through the DocuWare storage location and replaced each tiff with a pdf. This also requires the program to modify the XML header records and the database at the same time to ensure integrity. Apart from that there really is not much in the way of options.

Phil,

Thank you for the quick response. We will discuss the options and determine our course of action.

Hi Shaun,

how is the iPad app downloading documents from DocuWare to the device?
