Scenario:
We recently upgraded from DocuWare version 6 and can no longer set File Cabinets to Read-Only in the DocuWare Administration Tool. 
 
Solution: 
Since DocuWare 7, setting Read-Only File Cabinets has been removed. Although this feature may no longer be present in the DocuWare Administration Tool, it is still possible to limit users/roles to only being able to read documents in a File Cabinet.
 
1. Navigate to the Configurations page and open the File Cabinets plugin.

 
2. Open the File Cabinet you desire to limit access to Read-Only.


 
3. Open the Permissions tab, which will display all users/roles with access to this File Cabinet. Here, we can check "Read" and uncheck all other options. 


 
4. Once completed, save your changes and refresh the Web Client. Now, all users/roles will have Read-Only access to this File Cabinet.
Note: By product design, the system administrator, the owner of the File cabinet, and any user with administrative rights for the File Cabinet override these permissions.
