If you have documents dating back to 1998 you DO have DocuWare 4 documents in your system. The quickest check is to look at your logical disks in the file system. DocuWare 4 disks have a three digit extension where as DocuWare 5 has a 6 digit extension:

DocuWare 4 = AAAAAAAA.nnn

DocuWare 5 = AAAAAAAA.nnnnnn

If the DW domain is different then simply changing the DB domain to match won't work. The DocuWare server will need to be properly attached to the new domain and then the changes in the DB made. Since there is no DC controller for DocuWare then there will not be a trust relationship between the domains. I think we need an explanation of what is being done and why.

My thoughts are along those lines. The services cannot start properly because there is no security context. But it will be faster with a direct look at the system and a more thorough explanation of the actions being taken.

I suspect there is more to this than simply turning off a Domain controller. Has the domain of the DocuWare system been changed? Are the other DC's in the same domain?

In any event, you need to open a support request, I cannot resolve this in the forum.

Yes. It is a simple DNS problem. Nothing to do with DocuWare.

Normally, in a domain, you will have a main DC and one or more backup DC's. Look at the DNS settings on the DocuWare server. Do you see more than one DNS server? If you only see the one that you switch off then correct your DNS settings on the server by adding the backup DNS servers.

Office 365 is fully supported in 7. We use 365 (including Outlook) at DocuWare in conjunction with DW 7 Desktop Apps.

Cloud or On-Premise?
7000 pages is one thing but how many MB are these?

Initial upload and storage, then fulltext indexing, it will take quite some time.

For viewing each page has to be rendered to a PNG. Not so bad if just paging through.

My opinion? Probably going to cause issues. What file is 7000 pages that a user could read? Are these technical manuals, or copies of War and Peace?

No you cannot just synchronize the database. You can only synchronize the file cabinet which means you must brin gthe documents down as well.
