When I receive an error from an Assign To activity, it will not proceed through the Error node, but instead it'll be assigned to the controller.


Dear Controller, 
an error occurred in workflow [Workflow Name]. The activity [Activity Name] could not find any user for assignment. The next task was assigned to controllers.

This behavior occurs by product design. In this scenario, the variable used to assign the task to is empty and need to be fixed. This is why the task will be assigned to the Controller.

Situations in which the Assign To activity will exit through the error node are as follows,

  • Assignment to a user which was deleted.
  • All of the users assigned are not active at the moment of assignment.
