Upgrade path from 6.12 to 7.3

In KB-34774 it appears that we can upgrade from 6.12 to 7.1 and then to 7.3 (or 7.4 if we wait a little while).

Do I understand this correctly? I was under the impression that we had to go to 7.0 from 6.12.

Yes, from 6.12 you can go to 7.1 and then to 7.3 or 7.4, if you wait a little longer.
