Greetings,

I was asked to move "old" documents into a new cabinet for archival purposes, keeping active documents only.
In addition, the documents need to move with their  metadata (indexes) so they do not need to be re-indexed.

Current Setup:
- DW 7 on Premise.
- Database: MySQL
- Thousands of documents to move

1. Is this possible?
2. If yes, what is the easiest way to complete with minimal user error i.e leaving docs behind, or moving wrong docs.

Thank you!

Simon,

I'm still on 6.11 (on-premise), but are "Export Workflows" still a thing? Those let you move documents (with indexes) from a source to a destination.

An Export Workflow is of the type of workflows that are built in without requiring the WorkFlow module nor the AutoIndex module.

Search this PDF for "Document Transfer". It looks like that is the version 7 way of doing things...

Thanks,
Joe Kaufman

I just did this in 7.1 on-prem this week.  If you go into Configurations you'll see a Transfer function in the Document Storage category.  it does exactly what you're wanting to do: 'Transfer defines rules for transferring documents from one file cabinet to another on a repeating schedule '

Thank you Joe & Jon for your quick reply.  I was not familiar with this new Document Storage - Transfer feature, but it looks very promising.
Will give it a try...

Thanks again!
