Index icon.
Ron,
You make a good point. I will look at version 6.12, and the upcoming 7.0 to see if the behavior has changed at all.

Editing Index Entries in Multi-Cabinet Search.
When you create a multi-cabinet search the first cabinet is the primary and it is this cabinet's dialogs that are used. Therefore, if you open the index entries from the viewer option and the document belongs to the primary cabinet then you can edit and save without error. However, if you open a document from the secondary cabinet, and try to edit it you will get an error because the dialog for that cabinet is not attached to the result list.
The error may differ depending on circumstances. For example, my error was that a specific field did not exist in the other cabinet.
My opinion is that the behavior is by design.Phil Robson

DocuWare Version
6.11 was fine. The build number is just the production build. Hot Fixes don't change that number.

Edit Index on multicabinet search
Ron,
Before we can respond I need to know what version of DocuWare?
While the multi-cabinet search knows which cabinet the document is from, the Index entry dialog for the applicable cabinet is not available (hence the error). But I will confirm that when I know the version.Phil Robson

Connecting Apps wqith Edge.
The problem is either the certificate or the local loopback adapter. See this FAQ article.

Desktop Apps Connection
Desktop Apps do not rely on a specific browser in order to connect.
In this screen cap I am using Edge, and my Connection for Desktop Apps is active. You need to give a bit more info on what errors are being generated when trying to connect the app.

I feel the same way sometimes
I feel the same way sometimes, but personally I have come to realize that the natural resistance to change and having to re-learn how to do it is in play. If you have never configured a system any other way than in 6.12 then you would think nothing of it. I'm not playing down your opinion David - it is very common - everyone is having trouble getting used to it - even DocuWare employees. The DocuWare Administration program is the last remnant of the old Windows client. It has to go. The technology is over 10 years old. The vehicle is battered, bruised, and starting to rust. Time for a new one. :)

Yes. This is why it took so
Yes. This is why it took so long to retiire Silverlight. Our developers are quite brilliant and talented. Our Mobile Team for example actually have a patent now for our PaperScan product. Not an easy feat.
Our Intelligent Indexing stands alone as a unique innovation that no one else has - patents pending.Phil
