Behavior:
During your DocuWare 7.4 or higher upgrade, the installer loads a blank white screen and does not proceed.


Solution:
This occurs due to the following error in the DocuWare.Setup.Server.log, located in C:\Programdata\DocuWare\SetupLogs:

"DocuWare.DAL.XChange.DWDBException: Illegal mix of collations (utf8_unicode_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8_general_ci,IMPLICIT) for operation '='",

To resolve this issue, please implement the following;

  1. Close the DocuWare Server setup
     
  2. To fix this error, please see the  KBA-36263.
     
  3. Re-run the DocuWare Server setup for the version you're upgrading to.
