What happened, and why do I need to update?
The DocuWare Desktop Apps use a certificate-based TLS connection for the local communication with the Web Client. By design, these certificates have a limited lifespan and must be renewed periodically. The certificate provided as part of the DocuWare Desktop setup before July 2024 will expire on 01/01/2025 and needs to be replaced. The general functionality of the Desktop Apps is not affected, as the certificate is only used for the communication between the Web Client and the Desktop Apps.
Please be aware of the following features that will be affected if the certificate is not replaced;
- Open document processing configurations directly from the Desktop Apps
- Create and edit a document processing configurations with a sample document, signature, or configured further printout
- Create a connection from the Web Client to the Desktop Apps
- Launch Scan App from the Web Client
- Edit & Send
- Smart Index

Important information regarding all DocuWare version 6 Systems
- In a pure HTTP system, all DocuWare 6 versions do not need to be updated. The expiration of the certificates has no effect there.
- In an HTTPS system, all DocuWare 6 versions must be updated to at least DocuWare 7.0, and then the certificate update tool must be run on all client machines.
