Input masks
DocuWare Web Client does not automatically add any static characters such as hyphens for phone numbers or SSN's. The user must type the format. DocuWare simply validates the input.

MySQL patches.
Patches for MySQL come from Oracle. You will need to create a user account with Oracle to have access to them. While I would not bother with them if my server was an On-Premise server and I did not have any access to it from the internet the choice is up to the customer.
Before applying any patch, ensure that the databases are properly backed up and the server system state itself is completely backed up, or a VM snapshot is taken.

DocuWare & Java
Nathan,
6.12 requires JDK 8-131 and DocuWare 7 requires JDK 8-171.
With these releases it is usually ok to update the JRE. Sometimes this can cause problems if Tomcat is looking at the wrong path.
This FAQ article discusses how to correct that:
https://faq.docuware.com/en-us/knowledgebase/article/KBA-35542The version of the JDK for any release can be found in the installation folder under javasdk.

Attach a specific document to a form.
Casey,
It is a worthy idea for sure, but not possible at the moment. The radio buttons can't be programmed in that way. I'll mull this over.Phil Robson

Import
Craig,
Since Import is a user based app, there is no server like behavior in as much as it can automatically retry a failed import.
Running import jobs on the DocuWare server is an immediate source of conflict. Both the Desktop app and the server begin to compete for resources (particularly OCR). Usually the end result is poor performance all round. I would usually recommend importing from a workstation. It is possible that a resource conflict is causing import to fail to get the responses required resulting in the file cabinet access error. It could also be that the source of the problem is Job Server. If not already configured, I would change the Desktop Apps to import using Platform rather than Job Server. This will not only be quicker but may result in better resource usage.
To change Desktop to use Platform, open the DocuWare.DesktopService.exe.config file (in the \DocuWare\Desktop folder).
Find this line (about 2/3rds of the way down the file):
<Configurations ActiveConfiguration="Automatic"> <!-- Automatic -->Change the word "Automatic" to "StoreViaPlatformClient" like this:
<Configurations ActiveConfiguration="StoreViaPlatformClient"> <!-- Automatic -->Save the file and restart the Desktop Service.

Attaching a stored document.
I think you can only do this with a simple 2 step process. I do this with Outlook. Compose your reply, then search for the document in DocuWare. Select Send and whatever option you need (original, pdf, etc). DocuWare will open a new message. Now, just drag the attachment from the new message to your email chain reply. Close the DocuWare generated message without sending it.
The reason for this method is that DocuWare cannot know what email message you have open, all it can do is tell the mail client to open a new message.

Upgrade Paths.
Pedro,
There is no neccessity to upgrade the database to V2. And yes it is a manual operation that if desired, should be done on version 6.12.
From Version 6.x you must upgrade to at least version 6.7, and then upgrade to 7.0.See this simple graphic on the paths:
